Initial situation

TPS Elektronik GmbH was commissioned by a customer in the medical industry to develop a lightweight and portable charger/discharger for lithium-ion batteries. The aim was a user-friendly, compact system for safe energy management

The TPS solution

  • The charging and discharging process is completely controlled via the IC2 bus.
  • The device communicates directly with the battery management system (BMS) of the battery for monitoring and control.
  • The user can use a button to enter the desired capacity in percent.
  • The solution was implemented in just 10 weeks – including concept development, circuit board layout, firmware programming and prototype release.

Our team took over the entire development chain: conception, hardware and software design, rapid prototyping, as well as testing and integration – thus enabling an extremely fast time-to-market for the customer
